About Us

The Association represents the views of people living and working in Ushaw Moor, to help improve the environment, community facilities and services, and actively monitor plans and developments which affect the local area.

We are about bringing local people together to foster community spirit and good neighbourly relationships amongst all residents of the village through social and other activities.

Improving the environment is a key priority, we are actively engaging youngsters in simple planting and environment activities which we would like to replicate throughout the village when the community garden is established.

We aim to improve the play facilities for our children of all ages and are actively involved with plans to improve the existing equipment in the village.

Having a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme as the central core of the Associations activities is a belief in the community's ability to tackle crime and the opportunities for crime through raised awareness of potential threats.

The Neighbourhood Police are working hard to address the problems identified from the recent sample survey and our public meetings. They are genuinely committed to the key priorities for our village to make our community a safer place to live. Progress updates are given at our residents meetings where all village residents are welcome to attend.

We are actively seeking positive action to reduce the speed of vehicles through the village and are working with the County Council to secure traffic calming and other measures to make our roads safer. More information is available from the Road Safety Campaign link.

Following a recent sample survey we have secured funding from Awards for All to commission consultants to undertake a comprehensive needs analysis for the village and produce a community plan to move the village forward. This will provide the village with tangible evidence of need to help attract future project funding.

We produce a quarterly newsletter which provides updates on our activities, these are deposited in the Catholic Club, Cricket Club, Age Concern, Ushaw Moor Surgery and the village Post Office. If you would like to contribute an article, inform others about an event, or just have good news to distribute please get in touch.
